What Inflammation Teaches Us About Neck Pain — And How to Treat It Better

Thursday 21 May | 8.30pm CET / 7.30pm GMT | Online via Zoom

Neck pain is one of the most common conditions in musculoskeletal practice. But the biology behind it? Still largely a mystery — until now.

Dr Ivo Lutke Schipholt, PhD researcher at VU Amsterdam, is using molecular PET/CT imaging to look inside the nervous system of people with neck pain and cervical radiculopathy. What he's finding is changing how we think about what's driving pain — and whether our treatments are actually hitting the right targets.

In this session he'll cover:

✓ Systemic inflammation in neck pain — what the research actually shows ✓ Local neuroimmune activation at the neuroforamina and spinal cord ✓ What happens to neuroinflammation after neural tissue management ✓ The case for precision physiotherapy — matching mechanisms to the individual
